Theatre of Cultural Resistance
Workshop + Showing of performance piece ДрімМати
Physical theatre practices for promoting, protecting, and preserving oppressed cultures through co-creation.
In this introductory workshop, CP4P will begin with movement, working to identify each individual's body and its potential for acting in the space. Then we will work towards creating a group dynamic, the group being a necessary vessel for cultural transmission. Finally, we will explore resistance through the body - the body of the individual, the body of the group, and the body of a chosen text.
Participants can expect:
A large, empty, and accessible space
Participants should wear athletic, plain black clothing (no logos, words, or images)
Drinking water
Lite brunch
AUDREY DÉGEZ will lead the workshop, which will be followed by a showing of the developing theatre piece, ДрімМати. The title is a play on words with Ukrainian meaning akin to "Dream-mother." The piece is looking at the sleepless nights many people in Ukraine have faced in the past few years, with constant bomb sirens.
