Join us for the official unveiling of En Root: A Monument to Migration and Labor—an inspiring new public work by artist Chat Travieso that was shaped by the voices and experiences of project participants from New Brunswick and the broader Central Jersey community.
This monument celebrates the labor, and cultural impact of immigrants across the region. What began as a series of community conversations has now taken form as a lasting tribute—rooted in shared histories and collective imagination. You showed the way in selecting the location, and in identifying the importance of creating an inviting, beautiful environment that welcomes another migrant: monarch butterflies. You painted and planted the monument, and it is now ready!
The event will feature live dance and musical performances and art activities for the whole family, with food available to purchase from amazing local vendors.

Este monumento celebra el trabajo y el impacto cultural de los inmigrantes en toda la región. Lo que comenzó como una serie de conversaciones comunitarias ahora ha tomado forma como un homenaje duradero — arraigado en historias compartidas y en la imaginación colectiva. Usted mostró el camino al seleccionar la ubicación y al identificar la importancia de crear un entorno acogedor y hermoso que da la bienvenida a otro migrante: las mariposas monarca. Usted pintó y sembró el monumento, ¡y ahora está listo!
El evento contará con presentaciones en vivo de danza y música y actividades artísticas para toda la familia, con comida disponible para la venta de increíbles vendedores locales.
