Our LAST event wAS on Sunday, November 11 at 7pm, at Pino's Lounge (13 North 4th Avenue, Highland Park).
Comic in a Day is an annual art-making competition held by coLAB Arts where teams of illustrators and writers work together to create a standard American size comic book of 24 pages, all within the span of 24 hours. The entrants’ comics are read live by a group of actors and is underscored by new original music at a showcase that will close the event, and is adjudicated by a panel of judges from the industry and community. The winning comic book receives a first place prize and online distribution!
2018 Participants: Robert Kijowski and Jack Shergalis (winner), Nancy Love and Zaki Zaveri, David De Forne and Marcus Enriquez. The theme was Censorship.
2017 Participants: Ryan Smith and Christian Angeles (winner), Joe Cascia and Marlon Dunn, Sam Romero and Allison Baldwin. The theme was Resilience in Nature.
2016 Participants: Bassam Kaado and Joe Cascia (winner), R.J. Kijowski and Yulia Kravchin, Tara DeWorsop and Andrew Lloyd. The theme was Choices and Consequences.
2015 Participants: James English and Ryan Smith (winner), Carl Schulz and Christina Figueroa , Vivian Aladren and Riley Stein, Doug Rizio and Adam Uzialko. The theme was #LikeAGirl.
