Founded in 2022, Speakeasy is a Queer Black + Brown Femme Fronted SoulPunk band based in Lenapehoking (NJ + NYC) devoted to making the revolution irresistible. They’ve played in numerous festivals, including Punk Island, Seeing Sounds, and the Scranton Black Punk Festival. They were also finalists for the 2025 NPR Tiny Desk Concert Competition (top five of 7500 entries), and featured on the NPR Tiny Desk Top Shelf podcast, where competition judges talk about their favorite entries. Their 2025 debut album, titled "We Still Have Time," is a 10 track journey into their experiences as young queer Black and brown people trying to make lives in the heart of empire. The album explores themes of protest, love, and ultimately hope. It's a rallying call, a whispered spell, and a practice -- building into the future by honoring the past. You can find them on Instagram @speakeasy.mp3, and find their music on all streaming platforms.
